Click here to learn about some of the exciting upcoming programs of the Tzedek/Social Justice groups on campus.

Tzedek Hillel provides a venue in which students can integrate Jewish values and actively pursue tikkun olam (the repair of the world). Through Tzedek Hillel students can participate in community service, activism, education and develop partnerships with campus and neighborhood agencies. In addition to groups dedicated to specific issues, Tzedek Hillel offers general programming that enable students to explore the connections between Judaism and social justice.

Katrina/Rita Relief Alternative Spring Break Trip is a trip to the Gulf Coast Region to assist in the continuing Recovery and Relief efforts dealing with the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Seven students will travel to New Orleans from March 22-29, 2009 to assist in these efforts and explore issues of social justice, poverty, racism and their relation to Judaism and texts. This year our work efforts will focus on rebuilding houses by painting, roofing, putting up dry wall, and much more. Applications for this year's trip are no longer being accepted. For more information about future trips, please contact nbranman@stanford.edu.

Alternative Spring Break is an intensive week of service and study. Students travel to a developing country (most recently Honduras) to do hands-on work with community based projects, learn about grassroots sustainable development, and explore how this work is integral to what it means to be a Jew. This program is in partnership with American Jewish World Service. Contact rabbimrc@stanford.edu for more info. **In spring of 2006 eight students from Stanford went to Rabinal, Guatemala. Visit Adam Adler's website documenting the trip: click here. In 2008-2009 there will be no international ASB trip, but rather we will be participating in a relief trip to the Gulf Coast region (please see above).

Camp Kesem ("Camp Magic") provides a safe, supportive and exciting camp experience for children who have a parent who is currently in treatment for cancer, is in remission from cancer or has died from cancer. For more information, location details, or to get involved, check out the website or e-mail nbranman@stanford.edu.
