Lillian Baharestani Director of Development and Community Relations

Lillian joined Hillel at Stanford in February 2009. Originally from New York City, Lillian previously worked for a variety of nonprofit organizations, most recently as Manager of Corporate & Foundation Relations at the International Rescue Committee. Lillian attended Syracuse University, where she received her B.S. in Management, and City University of New York’s Baruch College, where she is pursuing a Master's in Public Affairs. Born to Iranian immigrants, Lillian is fluent in Farsi.

Noah joined Hillel at Stanford in August of 2005. Previously he served with City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley (an AmeriCorps program), where he organized service-learning programs for middle school students and recruited young people to be a part of City Year. Noah graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Politics and Sociology. A California native, Noah loves to explore the Bay Area, hang out with friends, and sing karaoke. 
Rabbi Mychal Copeland Hillel Rabbi

Mychal is a California native who joined us in 2003 as the Rabbi for Hillel at Stanford. Prior to that, she served as Associate Director of Jewish Student Life at Hillel of University of California Los Angeles. Rabbi Copeland earned a Masters in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a rabbinical degree from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.

Adina joined Hillel at Stanford in the Fall of 2000 after receiving a M.A. in Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary and a Master of Public Administration from New York University, Wagner School of Public Service. Adina studied at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem prior to her graduate studies. A Wexner Fellow and originally from California, Adina completed her B.A. at U.C. Berkeley.

Originally from Queens, New York, Rabbi Ephraim Kamin spent fourteen years of intense study at the Rabbinical Seminary of America where he received his rabbinic ordination. At this time, Rabbi Kamin holds a B.A. in psychology. An inspiring educator, Rabbi Kamin has lectured on many college campuses across America and Israel. He also has a spiritual coaching practice and works in crisis intervention. In addition, Rabbi Kamin is an avid fly fisherman, an amateur chef and an accomplished oil painter who has exhibited his work in galleries. However, his greatest delight is teaching Torah and spending time with his family. As JSN Campus Director, Rabbi Kamin partners with Hillel at Stanford to provide programming for graduate and undergraduate students on the Stanford Campus.

Marta Levison joined Hillel at Stanford in the Fall of 2001. She had previously been a public relations professional at hi-tech P.R. agencies and at companies such as Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Marta was a Federation Fellow and sat on the board of the Young Adults Division of The Jewish Federation. She also sat on the board of The Peninsula Jewish Community Center for three years, first as an intern, then as a full member. She obtained a B.A. in communications with an emphasis in P.R. at the University of the Pacific.

Ron has come to us this year (2009) all the way from Israel, as our new Israeli Fellow on the block. Ron grew up in Rishon Le-Zion which, like any other city in Israel, is about 20 minutes from Tel-Aviv. After his military service as an officer in the IDF, Ron studied at the Hebrew University. He completed his B.A. in Education and Communication - two things that he hopes to do this year. So, if you want to speak some Hebrew, explore your relationship with Israel or just say Shalom - you are more than welcome. He also makes the best omelet in the bay.

Sam grew up in Berkeley, yet feels no conflict with regard to his new role at Stanford. Moreover, he believes that contradictions can be sources of strength and wisdom. Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Brown University, where he also founded and led Kavanah, an organization for Jewish meditation and spirituality. He has studied in Jerusalem at Pardes Institute for Jewish Studies, The Conservative Yeshiva, and Hebrew University. Sam invites you to check out his reflections on Torah and justice this year in the weekly Dvar Tzedek of American Jewish World Service (ajws.org/parsha). 
Mark Taylor
Facilities Manager
Mark grew up in Sam Mateo and attended Aragon High School. He went on to the College of San Mateo where he earned an AA in accounting. Prior to coming to Hillel, Mark worked 10 years in the painting trade and for the past seven years he worked for the County of San Mateo in facilities. Mark is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Ziff Center.

Pat joined Hillel at Stanford in 2003 bringing with her many years of experience working in industry, service and university settings. Pat was instrumental in working with contractors in renovating/building the Taube House and the Koret Pavilion. As Director of Operations she is responsible for administration, human resources and facilities. Pat is a native Californian and attended Eastern Kentucky University.
